Reviews- Our Time in the Sun

”The scenery is spectacular; there is a great sense of time and place in this novel: the Southwest at the turn of the century. This is the twilight of the Old West, the last of the gunfighters. It’s all here, and it’s very pleasant reading. A throwback to the pulp fiction of yesterday, a good adventure story. —Writers Digest

Reviews on Our Time in the Sun from Amazon readers:

“I love reading a good western and OUR TIME IN THE SUN by John McLaughlin is as good as it gets. What made this story of historical fiction interesting to me was it was about the Rangers in the Arizona Territory at the beginning of the twentieth century. The interaction between Elliott and the young Ranger is well done. The characters are fully developed and the hero is an aging lawman who travels to Mexico leading a group of Rangers to track down and bring to justice a murderer and cattle thief.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had a hard time putting it down. It just flows and the next thing you know you have been reading for hours. I highly recommend this book. Read it and the second book. You will not be disappointed!!!!!”

Reviews on Red Sky at Morning from Amazon readers:

“Just finished reading RED SKY AT MORNING and truly appreciated it—so much that I can’t wait to obtain the prequel, OUR TIME IN THE SUN. McLaughlin has a rare talent for creating true-to-life historical fiction when it comes to the “original” Arizona Rangers of the 1901-1909 era. No doubt his 30 year career in law enforcement has added an important element of realism to the adventures of Joaquin Campbell, Samuel Elliott, and the other colorful characters who populate his western tales.”

“McLaughlin continues his saga of Joaquin Campbell and Elliott, his mentor, as Arizona Rangers in the early 20th century. As in his first book, OUR TIME IN THE SUN, life in the frontier is well depicted. He has richly drawn from history fascinating figures and continues to follow the lives of Campbell and Elliott as they chase outlaws on both sides of the border. McLaughlin’s strong local knowledge of southern Arizona adds to the drama and suspense of the story.”
